Álvaro Santiago (Oaxaca, 1953)
Desde temprana edad mostró una notable destreza manual e imaginación. A los trece años comenzó a estudiar Artes Plásticas en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de la UABJO. Posteriormente, en 1975, se trasladó a la Ciudad de México para ingresar a la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas “La Esmeralda”. Unos años después, Álvaro se incorpora a la planta docente del Instituto Tecnológico Regional del Istmo, en Juchitán, Oaxaca, en donde pinta el primer mural de los muchos que ha realizado en su trayectoria artística. En 1980 expone individualmente y por primera vez en Puebla en la Galería Ger-Art, a la par de culminar su segundo mural titulado La cultura ante la deshumanización técnica para el Instituto Tecnológico Regional de Puebla. Al año siguiente, en 1981, pinta uno de sus murales más representativos para el Instituto Tecnológico de Saltillo, Coahuila.
